The Varsity Scout Mountain Man Rendezvous is a great place for your young men to experience history and try new skills. There is competition for individuals and for the team. A good way to get a summer long program with the Rendezvous as the ending highlight, is to work with your team on the skills, shelters, and clothing of the Mountain Man. Many articles of clothing that can pass for a Mountain Man outfit can be found at your local thrift shop. Hats, bags, work shirts, blankets for capotes and belts are just some of the items that can be purchased cheaply with a little effort in the hunt. See the downloads page for directions on how to make several items of Mountain Man gear. A little time, some help from a friendly mom or sister to do some sewing and you are a Mountain Man.
